Amman, Aug. 5 (Petra) — Five planes were dispatched from Jordan’s King Abdullah II Airbase in Ghabawi area on Tuesday, carrying humanitarian aid, baby formula, and food, within international efforts led by the Kingdom to deliver humanitarian assistance via airdrops to areas in Gaza inaccessible by land.
A Royal Jordanian Air Force aircraft, in addition to one plane from the United Arab Emirates, another from France, and two from Germany conducted the airdrops, delivering 35 tonnes of humanitarian aid.
Each aid pellet weighs half a tonne and is carefully wrapped and packaged to ensure it is delivered to various areas in northern and central Gaza without being damaged, in coordination with a number of international relief organisations working in the Strip.
With today’s airdrops, the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army has now conducted 140 airdrop operations, in addition to 293 in cooperation with other countries, delivering 325 tonnes of aid to Gaza since the resumption of airdrops on 27 July.
