Amman, Aug 10 (Petra) – A majority of Germans support recognizing a Palestinian state, according to a public opinion survey.
Citing Deutsche Welle, the poll conducted by the Forsa Institute for opinion research found that 54 percent of respondents favor Germany’s recognition of the Palestinian state.
By political affiliation, support was highest among Left Party supporters at 85 percent, followed by 66 percent among Green Party backers and 52 percent among supporters of the Social Democratic Party, a partner in the ruling coalition.
The survey, commissioned by German magazine Internationale Politik, was conducted in late July and polled 1,001 Germans.
