Amman, Aug. 11 (Petra) — A team of Jordanian students won two bronze medals at the 2025 International Nuclear Science Olympiad, recently held in Malaysia with the participation of top students and researchers worldwide.
The team excelled in nuclear physics, energy, and peaceful applications of nuclear technology, showcasing the advanced scientific level of Jordanian students and their ability to compete internationally in nuclear sciences, the Jordan Atomic Energy Commission (JAEC) said.
The achievement followed more than eight months of specialized training provided by the JAEC, including lectures on nuclear physics, peaceful nuclear energy applications, hands-on practice at JAEC facilities and laboratories, and visits to research centers in the field. Students also trained on radiation measurement devices and learned about the latest global techniques and practices.
The participation builds on the national competitions launched by the JAEC, starting with the 2024 Olympiad involving King Abdullah II School for Excellence – Sahab. In 2025, participation expanded to include more public and private schools across the Kingdom. The national finals produced a four-member Jordanian team from King’s Academy and King Abdullah II School for Excellence – Salt.
The win reflects King Abdullah II’s vision of empowering Jordanian youth and guiding them toward scientific excellence, as well as Jordan’s commitment to nurturing promising talent capable of achieving leadership in advanced scientific fields essential to the future of energy, education, and innovation.
