New expansion of Muqabaleen gov’t service centre inaugurated

Amman, August 12 (Petra) – Minister of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship, Sami Smeirat, inaugurated the new expansion of the Comprehensive Government Service Centre in Amman’s Muqabaleen neighborhood on Tuesday.

The project aims to accommodate the “increasing” number of visitors and improve service delivery environment to meet citizens’ growing needs.

Talking at the inauguration ceremony, Smeirat said the project came in direct response to citizens’ requests, as the facility witnesses a daily turnout of between 1,000 and 1,300 visitors from inside and outside the capital.

Smeirat added that this situation demanded an increase of the center’s capacity ahead of rolling out new services in the next phase to facilitate citizens’ access to process their transactions in one place.

The minister stated: “Development process was not limited to expanding service venues, but also aimed to improve the internal work environment to ensure employee comfort and enhance their efficiency, which positively impact quality of service provided to citizens.”

The ministry, he said, is continuing its plans to expand scope of digital and in-person public services.

On goals of this long-term vision, he noted development of government service centers is a “fundamental pillar” in implementing Economic Modernization Vision and the public sector development roadmap, as well as enhancing citizens’ confidence in public services.
