Amman, August 12 (Petra) – Minister of Foreign and Expatriates Affairs Ayman Safadi met Tuesday with U.S. Special Envoy for Syria and Ambassador to Turkey Thomas Barrett, ahead of a joint Jordanian-Syrian-U.S. meeting focused on the crisis in Syria.
The talks addressed efforts to stabilise southern Syria, particularly in Sweida Governorate, through upholding the ceasefire and support for a political resolution to the conflict.
Safadi and Barrett reaffirmed the strength of the strategic Jordan-U.S. partnership and the continued commitment to cooperation across political, economic and security domains.
They agreed on the need to supporting Syria’s reconstruction in a way that preserves the country’s unity, sovereignty and territorial integrity, while meeting the aspirations of the Syrian people and ensuring the safety and rights of all Syrians.
Safadi praised the United States’ leadership in advancing these efforts and stressed Jordan’s commitment to working closely with Washington to help achieve lasting stability in Syria.
