Amman, Aug 12 (Petra) – Social centers run by the Social Facilities and Programs Department at the Greater Amman Municipality (GAM) hosted 7,480 children this year as part of its annual summer club activities.
In a statement on Tuesday, GAM said the centers welcomed children aged 7 to 13, averaging 340 participants daily, across 10 centers between July 6 and Aug. 5.
The program featured a range of educational and cultural activities, including mental arithmetic, chess, the “Young Social Leader” program, Arabic calligraphy lessons, road safety awareness, and public speaking. Recreational segments included puppet theater, storytelling, art and dabkeh dance lessons, handicrafts, cooking, field visits and other varied activities.
Held daily and free of charge, the summer club is part of the department’s annual plan under the “Amman, Child-Friendly City” project, aimed at helping children make productive use of their summer break. The activities are designed to develop their skills, abilities and thinking patterns, while shaping their personalities and broadening their cultural, social and intellectual horizons.
