Amman, Aug 12 (Petra) – The European Union and 26 countries, including Britain, Canada, Australia and Japan, issued a joint statement on Tuesday saying the humanitarian crisis in Gaza has reached “unimaginable levels,” with famine unfolding before the world’s eyes, and called for urgent action to end hunger.
According to Deutsche Welle, the foreign ministers of those countries urged the Israeli government to allow all international aid shipments for non-governmental organizations into Gaza and not to obstruct the work of key humanitarian actors.
The statement stressed that “all crossings and routes must be used to allow the flow of aid into Gaza, including food, nutritional supplies, shelter, fuel, clean water, medicines and medical equipment.”
