Lebanese President Affirms
State’s Commitment to Reconstruction Following Withdrawal of Israeli Forces
Beirut, 18 Aug 2026 (ONA) — Lebanese
President General Joseph Aoun affirmed today that his country’s authorities
will undertake the responsibility for reconstruction following the withdrawal
of Israeli forces from the south and the deployment of the Lebanese Army up to
the international borders.
In statements made during a
meeting with Randy Sarai, Canada’s Minister of State for International
Development, Aoun expressed Lebanon’s welcome for Canadian support to assist in
the return of southern residents to their homes and to secure housing for them,
particularly in the villages and towns destroyed by the Israeli aggression.
For his part, Sarai affirmed his
country’s commitment to ensuring Lebanon’s stability and to enhancing economic
cooperation and partnership between the two countries.
