Amman, Aug 13 (Petra) – The Lower House Foreign Affairs Committee on Wednesday condemned recent statements by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu claiming the annexation of land from Jordan and Egypt, describing them as a dangerous provocation aimed at destabilizing regional security, sowing discord and diverting attention from Israel’s colonial crimes and schemes against the Palestinian people.
In a press statement, the committee said any infringement on Jordan’s sovereignty or national security is a red line that will be met with full firmness and strength, in line with the Kingdom’s historic and unwavering stance in defending its land, protecting its people’s rights, and offering unconditional support to the Palestinian cause and the Palestinian people’s right to freedom and independence.
The committee said the remarks reflect the continuation of Israeli policies that disregard international law and UN resolutions, reject peace, and insist on imposing facts on the ground by force.
It stressed that Jordan’s leadership, government and people hold the occupation authorities fully responsible for the consequences of such statements and reckless policies, urging the international community to take a firm stand to stop these practices immediately and to work seriously towards ending the occupation and establishing an independent Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital.
