Jerash Governor Highlights Support for Development Projects

Jerash, Aug 13 (Petra) – Governor of Jerash Malik Khreisat on Wednesday stressed the importance of continued support for development projects in the governorate, praising the efforts of the Greater Jerash Municipality in enhancing public services and implementing projects that meet citizens’ needs and promote local development.

During a visit to the municipality, Khreisat affirmed backing for the “Jerash, Energized by Its People,” initiative, describing it as a starting point for improving services, and confirmed ongoing monitoring and provision of all forms of support and coordination to enable relevant authorities to achieve their objectives with active community participation.

Municipal Committee Chairman Mohammad Bani Yasin said the municipality is completing projects in public cleanliness, road maintenance, lighting, and parks, while improving resource management and oversight by assigning legal and accounting staff to monitor municipal operations and control equipment movement.

He noted that the municipality’s fleet includes 18 garbage compactors, and a plan is in place to replace nine of them with three new larger units, saving about JD139,000 annually, alongside restructuring human resources according to efficiency standards.

Regarding the Al-Intilaq Complex, costing JD13 million and comprising 38 warehouses, Bani Yasin said only seven are currently rented due to high rental rates, and an urgent plan has been set to maximize the project’s use and support the local economy.

The meeting also featured a visual presentation highlighting municipal achievements in market organization, curbing street stalls, improving roads and parks, upgrading the electricity department, and advancing infrastructure and public facilities projects.
