Hashemite leadership is eager to harness young energies to drive national growth-Momani

Amman, Aug 20 (Petra) – Minister of Government Communication Mohammad Momani said on Wednesday that the reinstatement of the National Military Service Programme reflects His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II’s conviction in the importance of the project in shaping a generation of committed and responsible youth.

Momani added that the program enjoys direct follow-up from His Majesty King Abdullah II, underscoring the Hashemite leadership’s commitment to channeling the energies of young people into a driving force for national development.

Speaking during “This Week’s Interview” on the Jordan Armed Forces the Arab Army Radio Station, Momani said the government had worked for an entire year to translate this vision into practical steps, restoring the program’s standing as a national tool for building Jordanian character and reinforcing values of discipline and social responsibility.

He stressed that national service is a long-term program reflecting Jordan’s approach to investing in human development, aimed at shaping young people capable of contributing effectively to society and the national economy.

Momani, who is also the government spokesperson, noted the program would continue under a clear institutional framework, free from temporary influences, to ensure sustainable results. “Investment in youth cannot be measured in the short term it is a strategic pillar for the state’s future,” he said.

The minister explained that the Jordan Armed Forces the Arab Army will be responsible for full supervision of the program’s implementation, managing all logistical, administrative, and training aspects to ensure maximum discipline and professionalism.

He said choosing the military to oversee the program reaffirms its position as a leading national institution for instilling loyalty and discipline and as a trusted source for building human capacity.

Momani added that the program combines specialized military and field training with interactive cultural and awareness lectures to refine participants’ national consciousness and strengthen their ties to national institutions, foremost among them the Arab Army, “a symbol of confidence and national dignity.”

He said the relaunch of the National Military Service Programme carries a strategic message that Jordan’s leadership places youth at the heart of its priorities, providing them with an environment that channels their energy into productive power supporting the economy, strengthening societal security, and enhancing stability.

The minister also noted that the government had prepared a comprehensive media plan in cooperation with the armed forces and relevant ministries, including Education and Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship, to ensure the program’s goals are clearly communicated to the public and to consolidate a shared national understanding of its importance.

He said the program will undergo continuous evaluation under the leadership of the armed forces to measure its achievements, adding that its impact will gradually be reflected in strengthening youth commitment and national belonging.

At the end of the interview, Momani praised the role of Jordanian women in the armed forces and security services, calling their participation a source of pride and a reflection of the state’s belief in women as equal partners in nation-building and safeguarding national security.
