Amman, Aug 20 (Petra) – The United Nations on Wednesday reiterated its opposition to Israeli settlement activities in the occupied Palestinian territories.
UN spokesperson Stéphane Dujarric told reporters that the settlements are illegal under international law, condemning the decision announced today to expand the E1 settlement.
He noted that both supporters and opponents agree that such moves severely undermine the feasibility of a two-state solution.
Dujarric called on the Israeli government to halt all settlement activities and fully comply with its obligations under international law.
