Gaza, August 25 (Petra) – The number of journalists killed since the beginning of the Israeli war on Gaza has risen to 246, following the death of journalist Hassan Douhan, the Government Media Office in Gaza announced Monday.
In a statement, the Media Office strongly condemned what it described as the systematic targeting and assassination of Palestinian journalists by Israeli forces.
It urged the International Federation of Journalists, the Federation of Arab Journalists and media organisations around the world to denounce Israel’s repeated attacks against journalists and media professionals in Gaza.
The Office called on the international community, human rights bodies and global journalism organisations to take urgent action to condemn and deter Israel’s violations.
It called for accountability in international courts, the protection of journalists and immediate measures to end what it termed as crimes being committed against media workers in the enclave.
