Amman, Aug. 26 (Petra) — The Amman Public Prosecutor on Tuesday summoned several individuals, including MP Wissam Rabihat, over receiving money transfers from unknown sources in violation of the law, according to a source quoted by the Jordan News Agency (Petra).
The source said the funds were received and collected in suspicious ways, not generated from legitimate economic or commercial activity, and inconsistent with the individuals’ professions or declared sources of income.
The source added that those involved had not obtained licenses to collect money under any form and had set up and managed electronic wallets (CliQ) to receive funds through multiple bank accounts.
These acts constitute a misdemeanor of creating an unlicensed platform for receiving, investing, and managing funds, in violation of Article 22 of the Cybercrime Law.
The Public Prosecution is preparing to issue a summons order against MP Rabihat, who refused to appear, citing constitutional immunity, despite it not applying since Parliament is not in session.
