Ajloun to Host Inaugural “Ajloun Lens for Professionals” Photography Contest

Ajloun, Sep. 2 (Petra) — The picturesque landscapes of Ajloun will take center stage this Thursday as the first “Ajloun Lens for Professionals” photography contest kicks off, organized by the Jordanian Group for Free and Development Zones and featuring top professional photographers from across the country.

The event aims to capture and document Ajloun’s biodiversity and natural beauty, with a special focus on its tourist landmarks, including the recently launched cable car project. Organizers say the initiative seeks to promote domestic tourism and boost the local economy by highlighting the region’s unique attractions through a professional lens.

Contest coordinator Dhib Ghnama said the competition is designed to build a comprehensive image library that showcases Ajloun’s stunning scenery. “These visuals will not only highlight the beauty of the governorate but also contribute to attracting visitors and supporting economic growth,” he noted.

Participants will compete for cash prizes of up to JD 1,000, along with official certificates of recognition for their contributions.

Head of the judging panel Yahya Massad emphasized that the evaluation process will adhere to strict professional standards, focusing on elements such as composition, lighting, creativity, and the strength of the visual message. “Our goal is to ensure a fair, transparent process that celebrates artistic excellence,” he said.

The contest employs a digital coding system to anonymize participants, ensuring unbiased evaluations. Submissions will be assessed across five key categories, each weighted equally at 20%: composition and design, depth and visual guidance, technical quality and color harmony, emotional impact and storytelling, and creativity with innovative perspectives and concepts.
