Amman, Sep. 8 (Petra) – The Jordan Paralympic Committee on Monday unveiled the world’s first specialized digital platform dedicated to nutrition for athletes with disabilities.
Chairperson of the committee, Omar Hindawi, said the launch of the “Adapted Sports Nutrition” platform marks a significant milestone in advancing the support provided to Paralympic athletes, underlining that nutrition is a cornerstone in optimizing performance, boosting competitiveness, and safeguarding athletes’ health.
Hindawi detailed that the platform is designed to deliver personalized, evidence-based nutrition programs tailored to athletes’ physiological needs, enabling improved training outcomes, faster recovery, and reduced injury risks. He highlighted that the initiative reflects the committee’s strategy of creating a holistic sports ecosystem that integrates training, rehabilitation, medical care, and psychological support.
The platform, overseen by committee nutritionist Tamara Halayqa, provides peer-reviewed scientific content and specialized research on the nutritional requirements of Paralympic athletes, taking into account disability type, sport discipline, and performance goals.
According to the committee, the platform is accessible through various social media channels to benefit athletes, coaches, and families alike.
