Amman, Sept 8 (Petra) – Agriculture Minister Saeb Khreisat met on Monday with World Food Programme (WFP) Representative and Country Director in Jordan, Antonella D’Aprile, who officially took the job in the Kingdom.
During the meeting, Khreisat, who is Chairman of the Higher Council for Food Security, stressed the close relationship between the Agriculture Ministry and the WFP, hailing the program’s vital support of Jordan’s efforts to boost the food security system.
He expressed his appreciation to the WFP for its support to the ministry and the Higher Council for Food Security, particularly developing the Food Security Information Management System, supporting the National School Nutrition Program, actively partnering in the “No Food Waste” initiative, empowering small farmers through the Palestinian-Jordanian Agricultural Marketing Company, as well as climate-smart agriculture initiatives to enhance the resilience of the sector and achieve sustainable development.
Khreisat stressed the need to further cement cooperation and partnership between the two sides to serve the national interest and ensure sustainable food security in the Kingdom.
