Workshop Focuses on Developing Exhibition Industry

Muscat, 8 Sep (ONA) — The Ministry
of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion today organized a workshop that explored
prospects for developing the exhibition industry sector in the Sultanate of Oman in line
with the objectives of Oman Vision 2040.

The workshop’s programme included visual
presentations that highlighted salient features of the exhibition sector from a
private sector perspective, the challenges posed to the sector and proposed
solutions.

The workshop discussed the role of Oman
Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI)’s committee tasked with exhibitions,
conferences and events. It elaborated on the panel’s efforts in developing the exhibition
sector. It also included a visual presentation about the State of Qatar’s
experience in hosting major events.

The workshop saw the presentation of
working papers on the role of the “unified promotional identity of the
Sultanate of Oman” in supporting the industry of exhibitions and conferences, notably
by promoting Oman’s public image and the upgrading of the country’s competitiveness
at regional and international levels.

The workshop explored mechanisms for
implementing “Identity” in the exhibitions sector. It also included a panel
discussion about means of improving relevant procedures and legislation and other
means of developing the exhibition sector’s competitiveness.

The workshop concluded with the
formulation of recommendations envisaged to establish a practical roadmap for
developing the exhibition industry in the Sultanate of Oman. The recommendations
laid emphasis on consolidating the Sultanate of Oman’s position as a leading
regional destination for hosting conferences and events.

The workshop was attended by Qais Mohammed Al Yousef, Minister of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion,
and representatives of the public and private sectors.
