Amman, Sep. 11 (Petra) – Minister of Water and Irrigation Raed Abu Saud on Thursday said the ministry aims to achieve water security in line with the Economic Modernization Vision and the Water Sector Strategic Plan 2023-2040, while developing secure electronic services, during the signing of a cybersecurity agreement with Octopian Security.
Abu Saud explained that the agreement focuses on studying, analyzing, and managing cyber risks across the water sector’s information and operational technologies. It seeks to enhance information security, strengthen resilience, protect data, ensure business continuity, and optimize the use of material, human, and technological resources.
He noted that the water sector has launched initiatives to improve governance and leverage advanced technologies across agricultural, industrial, and domestic sectors, providing protected data to decision-makers while advancing digital transformation in the Kingdom.
Abu Saud highlighted the strategic role of the National Cybersecurity Center through its framework and initiatives aimed at enhancing resilience and protecting national data. He added that the ministry will collaborate with academic institutions to train Jordanian university students, building local capacity, transferring expertise, and establishing a regional center of excellence in water sector cybersecurity, with the potential to export knowledge across the region.
