Amman, Sept. 17 (Petra)– Jordan imported 1.17 million mobile phones worth JD106 million during the first eight months of 2025, compared with 1.22 million devices worth JD101.2 million in the same period of 2024.
According to a statement by the Vision Association for Mobile Devices Investors on Wednesday, the figures reflect a slight decline in imported quantities alongside relative stability in import value, driven by an increase in the average price of imported devices.
Association President Ahmad Alloush said one of the reasons behind the decline is the 16 percent special tax imposed on mobile devices, which has raised final consumer prices and negatively impacted sales volumes.
