
Amman, Sept. 22 (Petra) – Director-General of the Government Tenders Department Mahmoud Hashem Khleifat on Monday met Syrian Contractors Association President Fawaz Junaid and his accompanying delegation, in the presence of Jordanian Construction Contractors Association President Fouad Al-Duwairi, several board members and department directors.
The visit aimed to strengthen joint cooperation and exchange expertise in the fields of government tenders and contractor classification.
Khleifat underlined the deep historical and fraternal ties between the two countries, noting that Jordan’s government, under the directives of His Majesty King Abdullah, has consistently supported Syria based on shared relations and mutual interests.
He outlined key improvements and best practices adopted to enhance efficiency in joint work, including updates to the government procurement system. He said amendments had been made to contractor classification and licensing regulations, evaluation models and performance criteria. Jordan has also completed the digital transformation project, automating classification, licensing and consultancy services, and modernizing the information database with artificial intelligence to provide comprehensive data for government entities.
Junaid expressed his appreciation to Jordan’s leadership and people for their continuous support and commitment to cooperation, stressing that the visit marks an important step in strengthening professional ties to serve reconstruction and job creation efforts. He said the collaboration would help advance the contracting sector and promote sustainable development in both countries.
Al-Duwairi said the meetings are aimed at exchanging expertise between Jordanian and Syrian contractors, adding that work is underway to unify classification regulations, systems and procedures among several Arab countries, which will positively impact the contracting sector.
