Amman, Sep. 23 (Petra) — The Arab National Mining Company (ANM) signed on Tuesday a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Uzbek Overseas Geology Company to build a scientific and practical partnership in the mining and mineral resources sector.
The partner company is affiliated with the Ministry of Mining Industry and Geology of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
In a statement on Tuesday, ANM said the MoU follows a series of meetings held in Amman with a high-level Uzbek delegation. The agreement builds on His Majesty King Abdullah II’s visit to Uzbekistan in August, which established a new phase the cooperation, particularly in mining.
ANM Chairperson Hamdi Tabbaa said the MoU is a strategic step toward creating a detailed roadmap for joint exploration, especially for copper in the Ghor Fifa region.
He noted the cooperation is part of a wider partnership that includes the Jordanian Uranium Mining Company and major Uzbek companies ranked among the top five globally in the mining sector.
The partnership, Tabbaa added, reflects the national drive to develop the mining sector to support the economy and enhances cooperation with international partners possessing advanced expertise.
