JITOA promotes Jordan’s tourist destinations in Athens

Amman, September 28 (Petra) – Jordan Inbound Tour Operators Association (JITOA) concluded a promotional tour in Athens as part of its efforts to boost Jordan’s position on the global tourism map.

According to a JITOA statement on Sunday, the program featured business-to-business meetings and presentations, aimed to enable Jordanian travel agencies and hotels to connect with key players in the Greek market.

About 40 Greek travel companies took part, reflecting growing interest in Jordan as a tourist destination, especially with Royal Jordanian operating regular direct flights between Amman and Athens.

Attending the opening ceremony, Jordan’s Ambassador to Greece, Zuhair Nsour, affirmed the embassy’s support for initiatives that expand joint tourist cooperation.

JITOA Executive Director Lama Al-Mahadeen said the Athens tour marked a “qualitative step” in promoting Jordan, noting “strong” interest from Greek companies.

Highlighting the “historic” bilateral ties, she called for strengthening partnerships to provide “unique” travel experiences.

Al-Mahadeen also praised the ambassador’s role and Royal Jordanian’s support, adding that the event is part of ongoing activities to promote Jordan abroad, which would continue during the coming period.

On its significance, the tour provided a comprehensive platform to showcase diversity of Jordan’s tourist product, including Jordan’s “rich” cultural heritage, stunning natural landscapes, and authentic Jordanian hospitality.

The tour also highlighted importance of Jordan’s religious tourism, including its “unique” sites of Baptism Site on the Jordan River, Mount Nebo, and Christian pilgrimage destinations, which give Jordan a “special status as a spiritual and cultural tourist attarction.”
