
Amman, Sept. 30 (Petra) – Minister of Transport Nidal Katamine participated in Global Rail 2025, the Transport Infrastructure Exhibition and Conference, held in Abu Dhabi, UAE, with ministers, officials, and experts from various countries in attendance.
According to a ministry statement on Tuesday, Katamine took part in the ministerial session titled “Seamless Borders: Transport as a Catalyst for Regional Integration,” which discussed enhancing regional connectivity through the development of transport and railway networks and the role of these projects in supporting economic integration among Arab states and facilitating the movement of people and goods.
During the session, Katamine emphasized the importance of developing an integrated transport infrastructure, noting that modern railway projects form a cornerstone for boosting inter-trade, attracting investments, facilitating the flow of goods and passengers, and linking the region to global markets. He highlighted the need to build effective regional and international partnerships to develop the transport sector and strengthen its contribution to economic growth, describing transport projects as essential tools for achieving regional economic integration.
The Ministry of Transport and the Jordan-Hejaz Railway Corporation (JHR) participated in the accompanying exhibition with a dedicated pavilion showcasing Jordan’s future railway projects, as well as highlighting the historical and economic role of the Hejaz Railway as a major heritage landmark in the transport sector. The pavilion received visits from participating delegations, including the CEO of Etihad Rail, who were briefed on the exhibits.
On the sidelines of the conference, Katamine held bilateral meetings with Saudi Transport and Logistics Minister Saleh bin Nasser Al-Jasser and Bahraini Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications Abdullah bin Ahmed Al-Khalifa, discussing cooperation prospects in various transport fields.
The conference aims to foster regional and international dialogue on the future of railways and their role in economic and social development and to exchange expertise in smart and sustainable transport management, financing, and operations.
Jordan’s participation underscores its commitment to working with regional and international partners to develop transport infrastructure, support interconnectivity initiatives, and enhance trade, investment, and sustainable development in the region.
Global Rail is held periodically, bringing together transport and logistics decision-makers from around the world to showcase the latest innovations in the railway sector and promote integrated, sustainable transport cooperation.
