Amman, Sept. 30 (Petra) – The Commissioner-General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), Philippe Lazzarini, emphasized that children’s education in Gaza must be “part of any agreement to end the Israeli war” in the Strip.
In a statement posted on X on Tuesday, Lazzarini stressed that any proposed plan should provide hope to more than 660,000 children who have been deprived of education for the third consecutive year. He highlighted that their return to learning should be a collective priority to strengthen lasting peace and stability.
He added that UNRWA has the expertise, infrastructure, and knowledge required to support the gradual resumption of formal education for children in the war-torn Gaza Strip, provided a ceasefire is achieved.
