Sign language service launched at Queen Alia Airport

Amman, Oct. 1 (Petra) – Zain Jordan and Royal Jordanian Airlines on Wednesday signed a cooperation agreement to provide Queen Alia International Airport facilities with tablets equipped for sign language interpretation, in partnership with Merge company.

The service will enable deaf travelers to communicate with airport staff and RJ services, easing travel procedures and enhancing independence, Zain said in a statement.

The agreement was sealed by RJ Vice Chairman/CEO Samer Majali and Zain CEO Fahad Aljasem in a ceremony, where the new service was reviewed and tested on tablets ahead of implementation.

Aljasem said the initiative underlines Zain’s role in offering innovative digital solutions that serve all segments of society, as part of its social responsibility.

Majali affirmed RJ’s commitment to inclusive travel services for people with disabilities, particularly deaf passengers.

The service will be available at several airport locations, including the departures hall, sales office, transit office (south), baggage services office, Crown Lounge, and first-class office. Tablets will connect via Zain’s high-speed network, with 24/7 interpretation provided through Merge’s platform.
