Aqaba, Oct. 1 (Petra) – The Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA), in partnership with Rasheed (Transparency International – Jordan) organization, on Wednesday launched a new “Complaints Platform” designed as an interactive and secure channel for citizens to file and track grievances, in a move aimed at strengthening transparency in the management of public services across Aqaba Governorate.
The platform was developed by a group of young men and women trained by Rasheed on the principles of social accountability and the use of digital tools to improve access to and quality of public services.
The launch ceremony was attended by ASEZA Vice-Chairwoman Karimah Aldabet, members of the Board of Commissioners, Aqaba Governor Ayman Al-Awaisheh, department directors, and local partners.
Mutasem Hindawi, Commissioner for Infrastructure and Urban Affairs, said the initiative reflected ASEZA’s commitment to translating digital transformation strategies into tangible improvements, helping to enhance service quality and build public trust in government institutions.
Rasheed’s Executive Director, Abeer Mdanat, underlined the importance of digital solutions in promoting civic participation and accountability, stressing the role of empowering youth to innovate and drive community development.
Jabra Dahdal, head of ASEZA’s IT Directorate, highlighted the platform’s role in supporting the authority’s digital transformation goals, outlining its functionality.
Young participants who contributed to the platform’s design through an “Ideas Marathon” workshop shared their experiences, emphasizing the value of involving youth in creating technology-driven community solutions.
The launch also featured a panel discussion titled “The Role of Digital Tools in Enhancing Community Participation,” with contributions from ASEZA officials, community activists, and youth representatives.
The initiative falls under the “Nazaha” project, funded jointly by the European Union and the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID), to support social accountability and empower civil society in advancing good governance.
