Azerbaijan Discuss Means of Enhancing Joint Economic, Investment Cooperation

Muscat,
8 Oct (ONA) — Qais Mohammed Al Yousef, Minister of Commerce, Industry and
Investment Promotion, today received at his office Mikayil Jabbarov, Minister
of Economy of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

The
visit aims to discuss ways to enhance economic and investment cooperation
between the two friendly countries and open new horizons for partnership in
multiple sectors.

The
two sides discussed means of developing commercial and investment relations
between the Sultanate of Oman and the Republic of Azerbaijan, and reviewed
cooperation opportunities in several areas, including air freight, investment
in the agricultural and energy sectors, as well as mining, fertilizers, and
other fields. They also discussed establishing joint investments.

During
the meeting, emphasis was placed on the importance of benefiting from the
agreements signed between the two countries and with other nations, and
organizing meetings and forums for businessmen to explore investment
opportunities and connect relevant entities from both sides with their
counterparts.

The
two sides also affirmed the importance of forming an Omani-Azerbaijani Business
Council, establishing a joint working committee for economic and investment
cooperation, and studying the signing of agreements for the protection and
encouragement of investments and avoidance of double taxation.

They
stressed the importance of continued communication between the relevant
authorities in both countries and organizing periodic meetings and economic
events that contribute to enhancing integration and alignment between Oman
Vision 2040 and Azerbaijan’s Economic Development Goals 2030.
