Amman, October 14 (Petra) — Nine out of ten industrial sectors in Jordan recorded production growth from January through August 2025, indicating continued positive momentum in the national industrial sector, according to data from the Jordan Chamber of Industry.
The construction sector led the growth with a 5.5% increase, supported by rising domestic demand for building materials and the expansion of infrastructure projects. It was followed by the packaging sector with 4.1% growth and the engineering industries sector at 3.8%.
In contrast, the plastics and rubber industries sector saw a 3.5% decline, attributed to higher raw material costs and reduced demand in some regional markets.
At the sub-sector level, notable increases were recorded in:
Pesticides and agrochemical products: 39%
Basic iron and steel industry: 37%
Quarrying: 28%
Mineral products: 26%
Pulp, paperboard, and cardboard: 10%
Pharmaceutical and medicinal products: 3%
Electrical motors, generators, and transformers: 2%
Footwear industry: 2%
The Chamber highlighted that this performance reflects the resilience of Jordan’s industrial sector in adapting to regional and global economic challenges, including rising energy and transportation costs.
It also credited the growth to increased production efficiency, adoption of advanced technologies, and improved product quality. If current trends continue, the industrial production index is projected to grow by 3.2% by year-end, signaling strong domestic and international demand for Jordanian products.
The Chamber reaffirmed the industrial sector’s critical role in driving economic growth, creating thousands of jobs, boosting exports, and diversifying the national production base. It called for continued support to enhance the competitiveness of Jordanian industries and sustain long-term growth.
