Sudan Calls for International Action
to End Siege on El Fasher

Khartoum, 16 Oct (ONA) — The
Sudanese government has issued an urgent appeal to the international community
to fulfill its obligations toward civilian protection while respecting Sudan’s
sovereignty and territorial integrity.

In a formal statement, the Sudanese
Ministry of Foreign Affairs demanded concrete and immediate action from the
United Nations and its specialized agencies against the Rapid Support Forces
(RSF). The government specifically called for enforcement of UN Security
Council Resolution 2736 (2004), demanding the immediate lifting of the military
siege on El Fasher, capital of North Darfur State, and guaranteed access for
humanitarian assistance to affected populations.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized
that this appeal reflects the government’s constitutional commitment to address
the rapidly deteriorating humanitarian situation in El Fasher, where civilians
face extreme daily suffering.

The statement further urged explicit
condemnation of the RSF and accountability for documented atrocities, including
acts of genocide, systematic looting, attacks on humanitarian convoys, and
obstruction of critical aid deliveries. These demands come as El Fasher endures
an unprecedented humanitarian catastrophe following more than 550 days of
continuous siege by the Rapid Support Forces, creating what aid agencies
describe as one of the world’s most severe humanitarian crises.
