
Zarqa, Oct. 20 (Petra) – The Hashemite University discussed on Monday prospects for cooperation in higher education, scientific research, technology, artificial intelligence, and language teaching with a Chinese academic delegation representing 13 public university.
According to a university statement, the deligation included several senior officials, among them Vice President of the University of International Business and Economics (UIBE) Wang Qiang, and Vice President of North China Electric Power University Liu Yongqian.
Hashemite University President Khaled Hiyari highlighted the importance of building strategic partnerships with leading Chinese universities, noting their global standing in scientific and technical fields. He pointed to the deep historical and cultural ties linking Arab and Chinese civilizations, which provide a strong basis for sustainable academic cooperation.
Hiyari reviewed the university’s achievements in scientific research, including high publication rates in peer-reviewed journals, international accreditation of several programs, and efforts to integrate artificial intelligence and digital technologies into curricula to enhance education quality.
Members of the Chinese delegation praised the university’s academic reputation and focus on digital and technical education. They underscored the need to strengthen academic ties, exchange visits, host students and researchers, and implement joint research projects to advance higher education in both countries.
The two sides discussed areas of cooperation, including student and faculty exchange, joint research, the inclusion of the Chinese language in Hashemite University’s programs, and teaching Arabic to Chinese students through the Arabic for Non-Native Speakers program. They also agreed to prepare a memorandum of understanding to formalize long-term cooperation serving innovation and development in higher education.
The delegation toured the Prince Hussein bin Abdullah II College of Information Technology, where Dean Ibrahim Obeidat briefed them on the college’s programs and graduates’ competencies, also visited the university’s smart classrooms equipped with advanced digital technologies that meet international standards.
