Participates in the 41st Ministerial Session of COMCEC in Istanbul

Istanbul,
3 Nov (ONA) — The Sultanate of Oman participated in the 41st Ministerial
Session of the Standing Committee for Economic and Commercial Cooperation
(COMCEC) of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), held in Istanbul,
Republic of Türkiye.

The
Omani delegation to the session was headed by Dr. Said Mohammed Al Saqri,
Minister of Economy.

The
session discussed a number of important economic topics, most notably improving
and developing export strategies for member states. Delegations reviewed their
experiences in developing non-oil exports and enhancing the competitiveness of
national products in global markets.

During
the exchange of views session, the Minister highlighted the Sultanate of Oman’s
efforts to enhance non-oil exports and develop the export system in line with
the objectives of Oman Vision 2040. He pointed out that non-oil exports in the
first quarter of 2025 achieved a value of RO 1.618 billion, representing a
growth rate of 8.6 percent compared to the same period last year.

He
addressed the main pillars of the National Export Strategy, foremost among them
being the diversification of value-added products and the development of
logistics infrastructure through the ports and free zones in Sohar, Salalah,
and Duqm. He also mentioned the launch of the national promotional identity “Made
in Oman,” which includes sixty initiatives to enhance the global
competitiveness of Omani exports.

The
Minister of Economy also touched upon the importance of activating the current Trade
Preferential System among OIC member states and considering its expansion after
evaluating the current experience. He called upon member states that have not
yet joined to accede to this system, which will enhance commercial flow within
the Islamic framework.

The
Minister affirmed the Sultanate of Oman’s commitment to supporting efforts
toward economic integration among member states and exchanging experiences in
developing export strategies, thereby promoting sustainable economic growth and
shared prosperity.
