Trade Balance Records RO 3.9 Billion Surplus

9 Nov (ONA) — The Sultanate of Oman’s trade balance recorded a surplus of RO
3.930 billion by the end of August 2025. This is a 36.1 percent decrease
compared to the RO 6.145 billion surplus recorded during the same period in
2024.

Preliminary
statistics issued by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI)
showed that the total value of commodity exports reached RO 15.318 billion by
the end of August 2025, a 9.5 percent decrease compared to RO 16.926 billion in
the same period of 2024.

This
decline is primarily attributed to a 16.8 percent drop in Oman’s oil and gas
exports, which reached RO 9.775 billion by the end of August 2025, compared to RO
11.753 billion during the same period in 2024.

In
contrast, Oman’s non-oil commodity exports achieved a growth of 9.4 percent
with a value reaching RO 4.421 billion by the end of August 2025, compared to RO
4.042 billion during the same period in 2024.

Re-exports
also registered a slight decline of 0.8 percent by the end of August 2025,
reaching RO 1.122 billion compared to RO 1.131 billion during the corresponding
period in 2024.

The
data indicated that the total value of commodity imports to the Sultanate of
Oman rose by 5.6 percent by the end of August 2025, reaching RO 11.389 billion,
compared to RO 10.780 billion during the same period in 2024.

The
United Arab Emirates (UAE) topped the list in trade exchange for non-oil
exports by the end of August 2025, with a value of RO 821 million, achieving a 28.8
percent growth compared to the end of August 2024. The UAE also topped the list
of countries to which Oman re-exported goods, valued at RO 433 million, and the
list of countries exporting to Oman, with imports valued at RO 2.733 billion.

Saudi
Arabia ranked second in the list of Omani non-oil exports, with a value of RO
784 million, followed by India with RO 436 million.

In
re-exports, Iran came in second with a value of rO 202 million, followed by Saudi
Arabia with RO 98 million.

Regarding
the countries exporting to Oman, China ranked second with imports valued at RO
1.166 billion, followed by the State of Kuwait with RO 1.042 billion.
