Amman, Nov. 30 (Petra) — Preparations for the Ayla Red Sea Half Marathon, scheduled for next Friday in Aqaba, include a traffic plan outlining road closures and diversions, according to the Jordanian Marathon Association (Run Jordan). The plan was developed in coordination with the Traffic Department.
Run Jordan stated that alternative routes and traffic safety measures will be provided in cooperation with the Traffic Department and the Public Security Directorate in Aqaba. The plan aims to manage traffic flow during the event, which is expected to attract participants from inside and outside the Kingdom.
The association confirmed the readiness of Traffic Department personnel to guide motorists to alternative routes and to prevent stopping or parking in areas designated for the race to maintain smooth movement.
Closures will be in effect from 4:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. They include a full closure of Al-Farouq Street in both directions, from its starting point near Airport Street to its intersection with Al-Istiqlal Street. All openings and side streets leading to Al-Farouq Street will also be closed.
The traffic plan also includes the closure of Al-Istiqlal Street up to the InterContinental roundabout, including the roundabout itself. In addition, Hotels Street will be closed from the InterContinental Hotel to the McDonald’s roundabout, while the McDonald’s roundabout will be closed in the direction of Thawra Square in one direction.
Additional routes include Tunisian Hammamat Street, Al-Sulta Street toward the airport, and internal roads within the Al-Mahdoud Central area.
