Amman, Dec. 5 (Petra)– The Greater Amman Municipality (GAM) has declared a Level-Red Water Emergency in response to the unstable weather conditions affecting the Kingdom.
GAM spokesperson Nasser Al-Rahamna affirmed the full readiness of municipal teams on the ground to respond to any reports received by the Tlaa Al-Ali Emergency Room.
He urged citizens to call the unified contact center numbers 102 and 117180 to report any incidents or observations.
Al-Rahamna called on residents to exercise caution by staying away from valleys, flood-prone areas, and low-lying zones. He also stressed the importance of not connecting rooftop rain gutters to sewage manholes to prevent overflow on streets, and avoiding the improper disposal of waste, which can block rainwater drainage systems.
He further emphasized the need to inspect submersible pumps in basements and commercial shops located below street level, and advised business owners to take preventive measures when storing goods in warehouses and basement levels.
Al-Rahamna also urged contractors and owners of construction projects to secure building materials to prevent them from being washed away and causing blockages in rainwater drainage lines.
