Amman, Dec 24 (Petra) – Lower House Speaker Mazen Qadi summoned a meeting on Sunday of the parliamentary Environment and Administrative Committees with relevant ministers and stakeholders.
It came after HRH Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II’s remarks on the Executive Program of the 2026-2027 Cleanliness Strategy to curb random dumping of waste.
In a meeting with Environment and Climate Committee Chairman Jihad Abawi and Head of the Administrative Committee, Khalifa Dayat, and other MPs, Qadi said commitment to public cleanliness means respect for the law, embodies the image of society, and boosts trust between citizens and institutions, according to a press release by the legislature. These values should be reflected in clear and sustainable implementation policies.
He stressed community awareness campaigns, explaining that the success of the 2026-2027 cleanliness program requires a real partnership between the government, municipal councils, civil society organizations, and the private sector, along with oversight by relevant parliamentary committees.
Qadi said the parliament is committed to its legislative and oversight role to make cleanliness a permanent practice.
