Amman, Dec. 26 (Petra)– The spokesperson for Jordan’s Public Security Directorate has renewed a warning to citizens about the dangers of using unsafe heaters commonly known locally as “Shamosa,” stressing that they pose a serious risk of suffocation that can lead to severe injuries or death.
The spokesperson said that Civil Defense teams responded earlier today to a suffocation case in Tafilah Governorate caused by the use of this type of heater. The injured person is still receiving medical treatment.
He urged the public once again to take these warnings with the utmost seriousness and emphasized that such heaters should not be used under any circumstances. He also called on everyone to uphold their social and humanitarian responsibility by intervening when they know of others using “Shamosa” heaters, helping prevent their use and assisting in disposing of them safely.
Additionally, the spokesperson stressed the importance of using all heating appliances safely and properly, including regular maintenance, checking energy sources and connections, and ensuring adequate ventilation at all times.
