Amman, Dec. 26 (Petra)– Five people were killed and twenty one others injured on Friday in a terrorist bombing at the Imam Ali bin Abi Talib Mosque in the Wadi Al-Dhahab neighborhood of Homs, Syria, according to initial reports.
Director of Referral, Ambulance, and Emergency Services at Syria’s Ministry of Health, Najeeb Al-Nassan, told the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) that the casualties resulted from the explosion, describing the figures as a preliminary toll.
A security source said initial investigations indicate that the blast was caused by explosive devices planted inside the mosque.
Security forces immediately moved to the scene, establishing a security cordon around the mosque, while the relevant authorities launched an investigation and began collecting evidence to track down those responsible for the attack.
Civil defense teams rushed to the site to rescue the wounded, recover the bodies of the victims, and clear debris and damage caused by the explosion.
