Assumes Presidency of UN Security Council for January

York, 1 Jan 2026 (ONA) — Somalia officially assumed the rotating presidency
of the United Nations Security Council today, succeeding Slovenia for the month
of January.
The
Permanent Representative of Somalia to the United Nations is scheduled to hold
a press conference tomorrow, Friday, to brief the media on the Council’s
program of work. This follows a morning session today where the Security
Council is expected to formally approve its agenda for the month.
