Aqaba, Jan 7 (Petra) – The training ship, Aida 4, affiliated with the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport (AASTMT) in Egypt, docked at Aqaba Port on Wednesday, in a visit that reflects the depth of the fraternal relations between Jordan and Egypt and underscores both sides’ keenness to enhance joint cooperation in maritime education and training.

The ship was received in the presence of representatives of official, maritime and security authorities in Aqaba Governorate, in a step that affirms Aqaba Port’s position as a pivotal regional hub for academic and training exchange in the maritime transport sector, contributing to the preparation of qualified maritime cadres in line with the highest international standards and supporting development pathways in this vital sector.

Director General of the Jordan Maritime Commission (JMC) Omar Dabbas said that the docking of Aida 4 at Aqaba Port constitutes an important milestone in the course of Arab maritime cooperation and reflects confidence in the technical and operational capabilities of Jordanian ports, noting the authority’s keenness to support initiatives that contribute to developing the maritime transport sector and enhancing the exchange of expertise with sister Arab institutions.

For his part, AASTMT President Ismail Abdel Ghaffar expressed his pride in the arrival of Aida 4 in Aqaba, stressing that the visit comes within the framework of strengthening Arab partnerships in maritime education and training and opening new horizons for cooperation with Jordanian maritime institutions.
Abdel Ghafar pointed out that the visit falls within joint efforts to consolidate relations between educational and maritime institutions in the two countries in a manner that serves mutual interests and enhances Arab integration in academic and technical fields.

The Egyptian-flagged Aida 4, carrying 140 maritime trainee students of various nationalities, is one of the specialized training vessels conducting maritime training voyages to a number of regional ports, with the aim of providing students with practical experience and enhancing field training, adding a scientific and professional dimension to maritime education, and underscoring the importance of Arab partnerships in supporting applied education.
