Port Sudan, Jan. 10, 2026 (SUNA) — The Supreme Council for Social Peace, in partnership with the African Center for Governance, Peace and Transition Studies, convened a seminar titled “Challenges and Future Vision” to examine ways to strengthen social peace in Sudan, with the participation of government institutions, civil society organizations, and specialists.The Head of the Supreme Council for Social Peace, Al-Nour Al-Sheikh Al-Nour, stressed the need to confront war-induced social distortions through reconciliation, awareness-raising programs, and firm action against hate speech and negative polarization. He underscored the importance of strengthening social cohesion, mending the social fabric, enacting and enforcing relevant legislation, and promoting a culture of peace, tolerance, and acceptance of others.He also called for structured dialogue with community leaders and elites, noting that successful international experiences in managing diversity rest on justice, equality, rejection of tribalism and regionalism, and broad social and political participation.For his part, the Director of the African Center for Governance, Peace and Transition Studies, Dr. Mahmoud Zain Al-Abdeen, said the seminar aims to translate research into practical recommendation, enhance coordination among stakeholders, and define priorities to support community recovery, healing, and stability in Sudan.FA/BH
