Khartoum State Security Committee Affirms Support for Anti-Narcotics Efforts, Praises Results of Security Cordon Operations

Khartoum, 15 January 2026 (SUNA) – The Khartoum State Security Coordination Committee on Thursday reaffirmed its support for anti-drug efforts, praising the outcomes of security cordon operations, the regulation of foreign presence, and campaigns against traffic violations.The committee, meeting under the chairmanship of Khartoum State Wali Ahmed Osman Hamza, reviewed a report presented by the Director of the General Directorate for Drug Control. The report noted that the war had led to an influx of narcotics, necessitating intensified operations that resulted in the seizure of significant quantities. It also outlined a comprehensive plan to monitor and curb the entry of drugs.In response, the Wali decided to reactivate the State Anti-Narcotics Council to enable it to carry out its mandates as stipulated in its establishment decree.On efforts to regulate the foreign presence, the meeting was informed that 60 undocumented foreigners were apprehended during the past week, while six cross-border trips were organized to repatriate foreign nationals to their home countries.Regarding traffic enforcement, police campaigns impounded 346 vehicles in violation of regulations. Military police operations also seized 40 motorcycles in breach of the emergency order banning their use. Meanwhile, the committee responsible for recovering looted vehicles removed 326 vehicles from public streets.The criminal report pointed to overall security stability, while the meeting reviewed the activities of the security cell, which succeeded in arresting 112 suspects accused of collaborating with the militia, in addition to seizing quantities of weapons, ammunition, and military equipment.The meeting commended the results achieved through security cordons and joint patrols, underscoring their effectiveness in maintaining public order and enhancing security across the state.BH/BH
