GIAD Returns Strongly to Khartoum, Announces Sudan’s First Electric Vehicle Project

Port Sudan, 15 January 2026 (SUNA) – The Chief Executive Officer of the GIAD Industrial Group, Engineer Abdullah Abdal-Maarouf, announced that all arrangements have been completed to reopen the group’s main branch in the capital, Khartoum, affirming GIAD’s full readiness to resume all services and launch new projects to be implemented for the first time in Sudan, in line with government directives to return to the capital.In a statement to the Sudan News Agency (SUNA), Abdal-Maarouf said the GIAD Group has returned in force to 18 locations nationwide, contributing to the reconstruction of numerous institutions damaged during the war waged by the rebel Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia.He reported the introduction of new products in the vehicle sector, including trucks and fire engines, and noted that the Port Sudan city center constitutes a qualitative addition to the group by providing high-efficiency maintenance services, spare parts, and lubricants. Abdal-Maarouf added that GIAD has implemented major contracts in River Nile, Sennar, and White Nile states, in addition to a dedicated contract to supply school desks for students in Khartoum State. Meanwhile, the Assistant Chief Executive Officer and Director of GIAD Motors Engineer Al-Fatih Awad Abdullah, disclosed that the first quarter of 2026 will see the launch of Sudan’s first electric vehicle project, describing it as a strategic boost to the national economy due to its potential to reduce fuel consumption and significantly lower maintenance costs.He further stated that new models of salon vehicles and buses of various capacities will also be introduced, stressing that these initiatives form part of GIAD Group’s contribution to supporting state institutions with high-quality vehicles offered at reasonable prices and with affordable operating costs.BH/BH
