Amman, January 20 (Petra) – Minister of Social Development Wafaa Bani Mustafa announced the ministry has opened applications for replacing unsafe heaters for two weeks, starting Tuesday.
In remarks to “Petra” Tuesday, she added that the application period is extendable as needed, as this initiative follows a Cabinet decision to support replacement of 15,000 unsafe heaters with government funding.
The minister noted the program aims to protect households from the dangers of improper heating and provide safe alternatives as part of the “Safe Winter” campaign, as distribution of the new heaters to eligible families will begin next Sunday.
Bani Mustafa indicated that the ministry has already begun implementing the replacement process in full partnership with Tkiyet Um Ali (TUA) and other partner organizations.
So far, the minister noted the replacement process began on January 8, with 1,285 unsafe heaters have already been replaced.
The ministry, in an extensive meeting with relevant stakeholders, directed all social development directorates across the Kingdom’s governorates to receive replacement requests through their offices and directorates located in more than 42 locations, she pointed out.
The ministry, she stated, underlined that its field and technical teams, in full partnership with Tkiyet Um Ali , will be ready to implement the distribution process at several centers as part of the “Safe Winter” campaign.
