Port Sudan, Jan. 22, 2026 (SUNA) – The Head of the Peoples’ League Organization, Maj. Gen. Omer Nimir, said Sudanese-Turkish relations are witnessing notable development following the visit of President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC) to Turkey, reflecting a shared political will and deepening bilateral ties. He highlighted Turkey’s ongoing political, humanitarian, and relief support, as well as its backing of Sudan in international forums.Speaking at a press conference in Port Sudan, Nimir announced a seminar next Sunday to discuss ways to enhance the strategic partnership between the two countries, rooted in strong cultural, social, and economic ties. The event will be attended by diplomats and experts, including the Sudanese Ambassador to Turkey, Ambassador Nadir Yousuf, and the Turkish Ambassador to Sudan, Mr. Fatih Yıldız, and will explore multiple axes of cooperation.Nimir emphasized the unity of the Sudanese people and their support for the Armed Forces and state institutions as key to defending national sovereignty. He praised the Armed Forces, supporting forces, and organizations for safeguarding the homeland and commended the media for its role in the Battle of Dignity.He welcomed recent measures to secure the capital and facilitate citizens’ return to their homes, calling them timely and necessary.
