Khartoum, January 25, 2026 (SUNA) – Prime Minister Dr. Kamil Idris has directed the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research to strictly adhere to the higher education development and reform package.The directive was issued during a meeting held on Friday evening with Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Professor Ahmed Modawi Musa.During the meeting, the Prime Minister was briefed on progress in implementing his directives on regulating free admission procedures for the top 100 students in the Sudanese Secondary School Certificate examinations who have been admitted for the 2025–2026 academic year at public Sudanese universities.The Prime Minister also instructed the Ministry to assist in facilitating the return of refugee students from outside Sudan. The meeting further reviewed the status of private universities’ return to resuming operations from within Sudan.The meeting affirmed the necessity of ensuring that university research at higher education institutions is aligned with the priorities of the relevant ministries.BH/BH
