Al
Seeb, Majees to Represent Oman in Fourth West Asia Volleyball Championship
Muscat,
27 Jan 2026 (ONA) — Al Seeb and Majees will represent Omani clubs in the Fourth
West Asia Men’s Volleyball Clubs Championship. The championship will be hosted
by the State of Kuwait during 2-14 February 2026 with the participation of 11
clubs from 7 countries under the auspices of the West Asia Volleyball
Association.
The
participating clubs have been divided into three groups. Group One includes:
Majees (Oman), Al-Rayyan (Qatar), and Ghaz Al-Janoub (Iraq). Group Two
includes: Shabab Al-Batron (Lebanon), Al-Wakrah (Qatar), Al-Ahli (Bahrain), and
Al-Kuwait (Kuwait). Group Three includes: Al Seeb (Oman), Al-Ittihad (Saudi
Arabia), Dar Kulaib (Bahrain), and Burgan (Kuwait).
According
to the championship format, the preliminary round matches will be played in a
single-round robin league. The top two teams from each group, along with the
two best third-placed teams, will qualify for the quarter-finals, which will be
played in a knockout format. Placement matches will be held for teams
eliminated in the group stage and the quarter-finals.
The
four winning teams from the quarter-finals will advance to the knockout
semi-finals. The two winners will meet in the final, while the two losing
semi-finalists will compete for third and fourth places. The champion of the
tournament will directly qualify for the Asian Men’s Club Volleyball
Championship as the representative of West Asian clubs.
Majees
Club will begin its campaign in the championship by facing Al-Rayyan (Qatar) on
the opening day, which will feature three matches. Also on the first day,
Al-Ahli (Bahrain) will meet Al-Wakrah (Qatar), and Shabab Al-Batron (Lebanon)
will face Al-Kuwait (Kuwait).
On
the second day of the championship, Al Seeb will meet Dar Kulaib (Bahrain),
while Majees will face Ghaz Al-Janoub (Iraq), concluding Majees’ preliminary
round matches. On the fourth day, Al Seeb will face Al-Ittihad (Saudi Arabia),
before concluding its preliminary round matches against Burgan (Kuwait) on the
fifth day.
It
is noteworthy that Al-Rayyan (Qatar) clinched the title of the third edition of
the West Asia Men’s Volleyball Clubs Championship in 2025, which was held in
the Kingdom of Bahrain. Al-Arabi (Qatar) finished as runner-up, Al-Ahli
(Bahrain) came in third, Al Salam (Oman) fourth, Masafi Al-Shamal (Iraq) fifth,
and Al-Qadsiah (Kuwait) sixth.
