Minister Receives Austrian Official

Muscat,
28 Jan 2026 (ONA) — Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, Foreign Minister,
received today Beate Meinl-Reisinger, Federal Minister for European and
International Affairs of the Republic of Austria.

During
the meeting, the two sides discussed ways to enhance bilateral cooperation
between the two countries in various political, economic, and cultural fields.
They also exchanged views on regional and international issues of common
interest, aiming to develop and expand existing cooperative relations, explore
further partnership and trade opportunities, develop investment and tourism
initiatives, and encourage human and people-to-people communication.

The
Foreign Minister emphasized the Sultanate of Oman’s keenness to deepen
cooperation with Austria in priority fields, while the Austrian Minister
praised the existing cooperation between the two nations and expressed her
desire to broaden its future horizons.

On
the sidelines of the meeting, the two ministers signed an agreement between the
Government of the Sultanate of Oman and the Government of the Republic of
Austria on the Avoidance
of Double Taxation and the Prevention of Financial Evasion with Respect to Taxes
on Income and Capital. This agreement comes within the framework of enhancing tax
cooperation, supporting the economic partnership between the two countries, and
facilitating a mutual investment environment.

The
meeting and the signing ceremony were attended by Munthir Mahfoudh Al Manthari,
Head of the Europe Department at the Foreign Ministry, Christoph Ceska,
Ambassador of the Republic of Austria to the Sultanate of Oman and several
officials from both sides.
