Djibouti President Receives Sudanese Prime Minister

Djibouti, Jan. 28, 2026 (SUNA) – Djibouti President Ismail Omar Guelleh received Prime Minister Dr. Kamil Idris and his accompanying delegation at the Presidential Palace Wednesday.President Guelleh affirmed his country’s full support for Sudan’s peace initiative launched by Dr. Idris, highlighted Sudan’s regional role, and stressed the importance of its return to the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD). He also pledged Djibouti’s support to Sudan across all sectors.Prime Minister Idris conveyed greetings from Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC) President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, and praised Djibouti’s backing of Sudan in regional and international forums. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to ongoing coordination, technical cooperation, trade and economic ties, and joint work through consultative committees.Dr. Idris briefed President Guelleh on developments in Sudan, including military victories over the rebel Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia and the return of citizens to Khartoum, emphasizing the government’s commitment to peace and stability. He warned that continued conflict poses a serious regional threat.The Sudanese delegation included Undersecretary of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Ambassador Muawiya Othman Khalid, Deputy Director-General of the Intelligence Service Lieutenant General Abbas Mohamed Bakhit, and Prime Minister’s advisers Nizar Abdullah Mohamed and Ambassador Badr-Eddin Al-Jaifri.
