Khartoum, Jan. 29, 2026 (SUNA) – Minister of Animal Resources and Fisheries Professor Ahmed Al-Tijani Al-Mansouri stressed the importance of indigenizing veterinary vaccine production in Sudan in cooperation with strategic partners.The remarks came during an inspection visit to the Veterinary Research Laboratories in Soba, where the minister toured the various divisions and held an expanded meeting with senior officials. During the meeting, he received a comprehensive briefing from the laboratory’s Director General and his assistants on preparations to launch vaccine production, scheduled for mid-June. Al-Mansouri pledged to provide full support and to remove all impediments facing the project.The minister also visited the Animal Production Research Centre in Hilat-Koko and the Animal Genetic Resources Management, underscoring that the ministry places significant reliance on this administration. He noted that genetic improvement ranks among the ministry’s top priorities to boost production and productivity, affirming that animal resources are experiencing steady growth and represent a key driver of economic development.Al-Mansouri said the current phase the country is undergoing requires sacrifices from all parties in order to achieve the desired objectives. He further commended initiatives aimed at improving and preparing the work environment within the ministry.In a separate inspection, the minister toured the molasses cubes project, which he said had been targeted by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia, describing the attack as systematic sabotage and a war crime punishable under the law. He called for conducting a feasibility study to establish a new factory in line with international standards for molasses production, pledging continued support until the project becomes operational.AS/BH
